Finishing with perhaps the most well-known of the Scottish Islands - The romantic Isle of Skye, with its incredible coastline and unspoilt scenery.
Holiday includes: 6 nights dinner, bed & breakfast, all ferry crossings, whisky tour, Nevis Gondola and entrance to Dunvegan Castle, 1 day breakfast & dinner on board ship, excursions as described, executive coach travel.
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1 We leave Chelmsford early morning and travel north, with suitable stops on route, crossing the Scottish Border and onto our overnight stop in Ayrshire.
Day 2 Board the morning ferry to Arran. Time to explore the island capital Brodick, before a tour of the island, visiting Lamlash, Whiting Bay and Blackwaterfoot. Free time at Arran Aromatics and Arran Cheese Shop, board the late afternoon ferry from Lochranza to the Mull of Kintyre, with a drive along Loch Fyne to your hotel.
Day 3 Embark with your coach on the 3-hour sailing to the Queen of the Hebrides-Islay. The tour visits Bowmore, the island capital, with its round church, where spirits have nowhere to hide! Followed by a more tasty spirit - a tour and tasting at a whisky distillery. Afterwards, spend time on Laggan Bay with 6 miles of unspoilt sandy beach, before travelling across the island to catch the Port Askaig ferry back to the mainland. (Meals on the ferry)
Day 4 Depart hotel, with a loch side drive to Inveraray and then Loch Awe with time free in Oban, "Gateway to the Isles" before heading via Fort William and The road to the Isles, recognised as one of the best drives in the UK, stopping off at Glen Finnan, where you have every chance of seeing the Harry Potter Train arriving at our hotel in Morar with time to settle in before dinner.
Day 5 Skye has a wealth of history from Jacobite battles to feuding clans with evidence of the highland clearances still very much in evidence. The island is abundant in wildlife and the scenery ever changing from the patchwork of velvet moors to jagged mountains and towering sea cliffs. Today's tour makes the most of the island visiting Portree, the islands capital and Dunvegan Castle - home of the Macleods Clan for over 800 years sweeping back round the west coast with clear coastal views of the Cullins.
Day 6 Depart our hotel this morning and make our way to Fort William for an included trip on The Nevis Range Mountain Gondola which takes you up Aonach Mòr, the 8th highest mountain in Britain. Later we travel via Glencoe and Loch Lomond to Glasgow and our overnight hotel.
Day 7 After breakfast we leave Glasgow and head back into England with time to reflect on the wonderful things encountered during the tour. Stopping on route for refreshments, we arrive back home in the Chelmsford area mid-evening.
