Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 We leave Chelmsford around 7.00am depending on your local pick up point and enjoy our trip north stopping at the Yorkshire spa town of Harrogate, famous for its glamorous heritage as a European spa town. You will have time for lunch before continuing on to our hotel in Newcastle.

Days 2-4 Experience: Auckland Castle
Auckland Castle, the historic seat of the Prince Bishops of Durham. Presiding over the River Wear and a vast countryside estate, Auckland Castle is one of the best-preserved bishops' palaces in Europe. Explore the staterooms, recently returned to their original Georgian Gothic splendour!
Experience: Alnwick Castle
The Castle has been a loyal stronghold of the Percy family since 1309. Experience moments of déjà vu as you wander through iconic settings which have graced the screens of numerous Hollywood blockbusters such as Harry Potter, Downtown Abbey, and Elizabeth. Alnwick Castle is not just a tour; it's a journey through history and cinematic magic.
Experience: Weardale Railway Bishop Auckland
Embark on a captivating 16-mile single train journey from Stanhope to Bishop Auckland, part of the renowned Stockton to Darlington line, celebrated for hosting the world's first passenger rail service.
Experience: Northumberland's Hidden Gems inc. Holy Island
Cross the sandy causeway to the mysterious Holy Island of Lindisfarne, admiring breathtaking views of the North Sea and striking castle. Rumble through Northumberland countryside and the rolling Cheviot Hills on the Heatherslaw Light Railway - the most northerly steam railway in England. Nearing the Scottish border, explore the small, picturesque villages of Etal and Ford.

Day 5 Today we head home stopping somewhere suitable for lunch before we continue our journey south arriving back in Chelmsford mid-evening.
