Book NowThe West Coast of Scotland has some wonderful castles and gardens, warmed by the Gulf Stream, set amongst magnificent scenery. Our itinerary includes hopping from mainland to Islands and visiting some of the best castles and gardens this area has to offer while incorporating some of the best scenery along the way.
Holiday includes: 4 nights' dinner, bed & breakfast, entrance to Mount Stuart & Gardens, Inveraray Castle & Gardens, Benmore Gardens and Historic Kilmun with tea & Cake, 4 ferry crossings, excursions as described, executive coach travel.
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1 After your local pick-up we leave Chelmsford and travel north to Gourock for our ferry to Dunoon, short transfer to our Hotel arriving with time to settle in before dinner.
Day 2 Isle of Bute & Mount Stuart
A short but beautiful drive over the Kyles of Bute to catch the short crossing from Colintraive to the Isle of Bute. Time free in the Victorian seaside town of Rothesay, the islands capital. Afterwards, the coastal drive to Mount Stuart - a 19th century neo-gothic mansion with extravagant interiors and over 300 acres of landscaped gardens.
Day 3 Loch Fyne, Inveraray & Castle
Morning free in Dunoon, perhaps visit Castle House Museum. In the afternoon tour along The Holy Loch and Loch Fyne to the ancient maritime port of Inveraray. Entry into Inveraray Castle & Gardens included. The castle is home to the Duke of Argyll playing an important role in the shaping of Scotland through the ages. The garden covers 16 acres. The remainder being park and woodland extending to 180 hectares forming one of the most important designed landscapes in Scotland.
Day 4 Benmore Botanic Garden is a magnificent mountainside Garden, Its 120 acres are home to a world-famous collection of plants from the Orient and the Himalaya to North and South America, including over 300 species of rhododendrons. Later we visit Historic Kilmun a small village located on the shores of the Holy Loch just north of Dunoon on the beautiful Cowal Peninsula,( includes tea & Cake).
Day 5 After breakfast we make our ferry crossing to Gourock and head back home past Glasgow and south over the border to England with suitable stops on route arriving back in Chelmsford early evening.
