Book Now

Now one of our favourites, we return to Sidmouth, 'A town caught still in a timeless charm'. The picturesque town is situated on the glorious South Devon coast set between deep red cliffs on the edge of Devon's heathery uplands. The Regency style esplanade overlooks a sunny bathing and boating beach, and there are lovely floral gardens. Plenty of opportunity for wonderful seaside walks along the esplanade, with a well-preserved compact shopping centre.

Holiday includes: 4 nights dinner, bed & breakfast, Seaton Tramway return, excursions as described, executive coach travel.

Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 Leaving Chelmsford early morning, we make a leisurely journey to Sidmouth stopping on route for refreshments, arriving at the hotel late afternoon with time for you to settle in before the evening meal.

Day 2 Today we travel to Dorchester, a town with lots of history. Dorchester provides the location for many of the county's leading museums, including the Dorset County Museum and the Keep Military Museum. Learn more of Dorchester's grizzly history and the trial of the Tolpuddle Martyrs with a visit to the newly refurbished Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum (Wednesday is market day). Stopping off in Bridport on the way back to Sidmouth.

Day 3 A free day in this delightful floral resort to enjoy the Regency architecture, magnificent Conaught Gardens, local attractions or just relax on the beach.

Day 4 Our excursion today takes us to Seaton for a return trip on the Seaton Tramway, a narrow gauge electric tramway. The 3-mile route runs through East Devon's Axe Valley, between the coastal resort of Seaton, the village of Colyford, and the ancient town of Colyton. The rest of the day is free for exploring the town of Seaton, this popular coastal resort lies just to the west of the Axe estuary, one of the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of East Devon. The town's mile-long beach is mostly shingle, and is excellent for a wide variety of watersports.

Day 5 After our final breakfast we take our leave of Sidmouth and make our journey homewards, stopping on route for refreshments, arriving in Chelmsford early evening.
