This holiday is centred in Llandrindod Wells, once the largest and most popular of the Welsh Spas. The town is built overlooking the River Ithon. The old pump room, which is still here, helps to create the atmosphere of where Victorians came to take the water. This part of Wales is very beautiful, rolling rural countryside, hills and mountains and lovely Welsh villages.

Holiday includes: 4 nights dinner, bed & breakfast, Vale of Rheidol Railway, Canal Cruise, National Cycle Museum, excursions as described, executive coach travel.

Holiday itinerary

Day 1 We leave Chelmsford at 7.00am depending on your local pick up point and journey into Wales through Oxford, Cheltenham, Ross-on-Wye, Hereford and onto Llandrindod, arriving at the Best Western Metropole Hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2 This morning we begin with a drive to the Elan Valley and the Dams Visitor Centre for a short break. We return to Llandrindod Wells in time to obtain lunch in the town before our afternoon outing to the National Cycle Museum in Llandrindod Wells and journey through the lanes of cycle history and see bicycles from1818, such as the Hobby Horse, Boneshakers and Penny Farthings, up to the most modern Carbon Fibre machines of today.

Day 3 An early start as we have a full day excursion to Aberystwyth and the Vale of Rheidol Railway. We catch the morning train along the former Great Western line to Devil's Bridge - this was the last route to operate steam trains for British Rail, the line passed into private ownership in 1989. A short walk from the terminus brings you to the spectacular Mynach Falls. We take a break at Devil's Bridge and have time for refreshments before we catch the return train to Aberystwyt.

Day 4 Journey through the beautiful and diverse scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park, with free time to explore Medieval Brecon and a relaxing cruise on the historical Monmouthshire Canal.

Day 5 This morning we leave after breakfast taking a scenic route home through Leominster, onto the Cotswolds, Evesham, Moreton and Chipping Norton before returning home to Chelmsford about 8.00pm.
