Holiday Itinerary
Day 1 We leave from your local pick-up point and head north, stopping for refreshments on the way, cross the border into Scotland to The Holiday Inn Dumfries for our overnight stay.
Day 2 Departing after a fine Scottish breakfast, we take a scenic route travelling via the Trossachs to Fort William, then onward to Spean Bridge and through Monarch of the Glen Country to our hotel in Grantown on Spey.
Day 3 -5 Experience: Ballindalloch Castle and Gardens
Home of the Macpherson-Grant family for over 450 years, Ballindalloch Castle is known as the "Pearl of the North", a perfect example of Scottish Baronial architecture and is one of the few privately owned castles continuously lived in by its original family.
Experience: Hairy Coo Safari
Led by one of Rothiemurchus' expert Rangers, meet the beloved Hairy Coos up close, feed the resident red deer herd by hand, all while you learn about the deep connection between the land, its people, and wildlife in Highland's culture. Complete the day with a light lunch amidst the natural splendour of the Highlands.
Experience: Knockando Woolmill
Knockando Mill, one of the last operational mills in the UK, is a Grade A listed property that highlights the intricate process of wool production, from raw fleece to finished fabric.
Witness the vintage machinery in action and discover how traditional methods of carding, spinning, and weaving are preserved.

Accompanied by our expert guide, immerse yourself in Scotland's rich history as you explore key sites linked to the Jacobite uprising and Highland heritage.Begin your journey at Culloden Battlefield, where the final battle on mainland Britain unfolded, and delve into its story at the Visitor Centre. Enjoy free time in Inverness, where you can explore the city at your own pace over lunch. In the afternoon, we make a visit to Inverness Castle, set to reopen after refurbishment in 2025.
Day 6 This morning we bid farewell to the Cairngorm Mountains and make our way south, passing Pitlochry, Dunkeld and Perth, perhaps a stop at one of these for lunch. Enjoying the beautiful scenery during our journey to our overnight stop in Dumfries.
Day 7 We travel south through North Yorkshire stopping for refreshments on the way and to arrive back in Chelmsford mid evening.
