Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 We leave the Chelmsford area about 6.00am and head to Kent for our crossing from Dover to Calais and then make our way through France to our overnight hotel in Dijon D/B/B.

Day 2 We continue south through Europe and cross the border into Switzerland to arrive in the town of Leysin and our hotel for the next five nights

Day 3 We will enjoy a day at leisure in Leysin. We may choose to relax at our hotel, making use of its extensive leisure facilities or make our way to the Berneuse Cable Car, which takes us up to the summit of the mountain for perfect views of Geneva and Mont Blanc on a clear day.

Day 4 This morning, we will head to the Lavaux Vineyards, where we have wine tasting at the outstanding Lavaux Vinorama. After learning all about the wines produced here, we will head for Vevey with time for lunch before embarking on a scenic paddle steamer cruise from Vevey to the elegant town of Montreux, made famous by its yearly jazz festival and its former famous resident, Freddie Mercury. After spending time here, we make our way back to the hotel by coach.

Day 5 This morning we board our coach for the journey across the Col de Mosses through the scenic countryside to the village of Gruyeres. Here we discover how Gruyere cheese is made with a demonstration at La Maison du Gruyere cheese dairy. Afterwards we have time to spend in the village before we travel by bus to Broc, home of the Cailler-Nestle chocolate factory. We find out all about the chocolates made here, with tastings of course! After enjoying the chocolates, we begin our return journey back to Montreux, arriving late afternoon.

Day 6 After breakfast, we head to the chic mountain resort of Gstaad, known as a playground for the rich and famous where we enjoy free time to explore, browsing the designer shops on main street, people watching over coffee or immersing yourself in the mountain scenery. Later we board our beautiful Golden pass train for a wonderful journey to Lake Geneva, watching the afternoon sun descend to Montreux. On arrival we board our coach back to the hotel.

Day 7 After breakfast, it is time to say goodbye to the fresh mountain air of Switzerland and begin our journey home, with our overnight stay in Dijon.

Day 8 Leave after breakfast and continue our journey, crossing through France to Calais for the return crossing back to Dover, arriving in the Chelmsford area late evening.
