Holiday Itinerary
Day 1 Morning collection from your local pick-up point, we then journey to Shropshire with suitable stops on route.
Day 2 Today we take a ride south to Stokesay Castle. Stokesay is the best fortified manor house in Britain. It is a survivor of 700 years of border and civil wars and its buildings are complete and breath-taking. Leaving here we head for historic Ludlow, a medieval town with an imposing castle at the top of the town square, a beautiful market town known for its history, food scene, and breathtaking landscapes
Day 3 This morning it is Shrewsbury that catches our attention- packed with timber framed black and white buildings amongst narrow alleyways surrounded by the River Severn. Here we enjoy a cruise on the River Severn and we have a chance to explore the town and obtain lunch. Our afternoon visit takes us to the impressive Ironbridge Gorge where the world's first iron bridge forms the centre of this World Heritage Site. Here we go back in time at Blists Hill Victorian Town. An open air museum recreating life in a Victorian town. With Victorian Characters in costume going about their daily lives.
Day 4 This morning we head south to Bridgenorth. Here we join the famous Severn Valley Railway for a delightful ride along the beautiful Severn Valley, passing through lovely restored stations on the way to Kidderminster. Enjoy some free time to explore this large market town, once a key location to make speeches with a young Winston Churchill, prime minister Stanley Baldwin, explorer Earnest Shackleton and women's rights campaigner Emmeline Pankhurst all having spoken at the famous town hall. After time spent here, we have a short ride to the lovely Georgian Severnside town of Bewdley for free time to have a look around before the journey back to our hotel.
Day 5 We depart after breakfast for a leisurely return to Essex, breaking the journey in Stratford-upon-Avon. Arriving back in Chelmsford early evening.
